Primary Sleep Disorders
There are many types of sleep disorders experienced by people. Sleep disorder is an irregularity in the sleep pattern of a person or animal. Some of its types are serious that it can affect mental, physical, emotional aspects of a person. There are many factors that cause a sleep order. Whatever the reason behind it is, you should pay attention to it and as much as possible, seek help to prevent it.
Primary sleep disorder types
One of the most common sleep disorder types is insomnia, where in a person finds it hard to fall asleep or to stay asleep. It has two types known as the chronic and the short-term insomnia. Chronic insomnia is a long term sleep disorder that usually lasts for more than three months. It is associated with other types of sleep disorder like sleep apnea. Situational insomnia or short term insomnia, on the other hand, don’t last long. It may be brought by stressful events, illnesses, or emotional problems.
Sleep apnea is another sleep disorder common to some people. A person is awakened from deep sleep because breathing is suspended for about ten seconds. If you experience loud snoring, restless sleep, and gasping frequently during your sleep, and dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and irritability at day, you may have yourself checked by your doctor. You may be experiencing sleep apnea.
Travelers normally experience jet lags. Though this is not really serious and may fade away quickly, it is one of the primary schlafstoerungen. This happens when a person travel across different time zones. Narcolepsy, on the other hand, is a syndrome wherein a person has an unexplained sleepiness during appropriate times (daytime most likely) even though he sleeps well at night.
Other primary sleep disorders that are commonly experienced by people are restless legs syndrome, PLMD (Periodic Limb Movement Disorder), sleepwalking, night terror, which is common to children, and shift work.
